Show biz-- Reports that Jani Lane, former lead singer of the heavy meatl band Warrant, was found dead in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The gossip site says that the singer's body was found at a Comfort Inn motel in Woodland Hills
As of yet, no official cause of death has been released or determined.
While with Warrant, Lane penned several Top 40 hit singles: "Heaven," "Down Boys" and "Sometimes She Cries for the band's debut disc "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" which peaked at number 10 on the billboard 200. He also penned their signature tune "Cherry Pie," as well as "I Saw Red," and "Uncle Tom's Cabin."
After some personal and business squabbles, Lane left the band in 2004. In January 2008, Lane rejoined. It was the first time that all original members had been in the band since 1992.
Lane's body was discovered at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, CA. So far, no official cause of death has been released.
Lane famously penned the band's biggest hit "Cherry Pie" back in 1989 ... before eventually leaving the band to pursue a solo career.
Lane had a history of alcohol-related issues -- he was ordered to serve 120 days in jail after he was arrested for DUI in 2010 his second DUI in two years.
